I Wrote a Fertility Book! Here’s Why It Matters So Much to Me—And Hopefully to You, Too
I still can’t believe I get to say this: I wrote a book! 🎉
The Lucky Egg: Understanding Your Fertility & How to Get Pregnant NOW will be released on January 13, 2026, and it’s officially available for preorder!

If you’re new here, I’m Dr. Lucky Sekhon—a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist based in New York City. I spend my days helping people navigate every stage of their reproductive journey, from fertility preservation to IVF, to supporting those who are facing the heartbreak of pregnancy loss or unexplained infertility. I’m also someone who loves breaking down complex medical topics into real talk—whether it’s in my clinic, on Instagram, or on this blog, The Lucky Egg or via my monthly newsletter The Lucky Egg Drop. My goal has always been to make fertility feel less like a black box and more like something you can understand and take charge of.
This book is the culmination of a dream that started years ago—born out of thousands of conversations I’ve had in my office, in DMs, and in the comments section of my Instagram posts. So many of you have shared your stories, your questions, your fears, and your hopes with me. And I’ve carried all of it with me as I wrote this book. This one’s for you.
Why I Wrote The Lucky Egg
There’s a line from one of my favorite novels, A Gentleman in Moscow, that’s always stuck with me. When the protagonist, Count Rostov, is interrogated by the secret police about a inflammatory poem he had written, they ask him why he wrote it? He replies beautifully: “It demanded to be written. I simply happened to be sitting at the particular desk on the particular morning when it chose to make its demands.“
That’s exactly how I feel about this book.
I didn’t choose to write The Lucky Egg—it chose me. Every day, I sit across from patients who are smart, proactive, and doing all the right things—yet feel completely lost when it comes to understanding their fertility. They’ve been failed by a system that never taught them how their reproductive biology works, and instead filled the void with confusion, misinformation, and unrealistic expectations.
There is such a deep need for clear, compassionate, scientifically sound fertility education—information that speaks human, not just medicalese. And not just information, but context. Support. Strategy. Truth. I felt like I had no choice but to write this book, because the knowledge gap is too wide, and the stakes are too high to ignore.
Whether you’re just beginning to think about kids, already trying and frustrated, exploring fertility preservation, or navigating treatment after loss—The Lucky Egg is for you. It’s the resource I wish I could hand to every person who’s ever sat in my office saying, “I wish someone had told me this sooner.”
This book demanded to be written. And I hope it gives you the clarity, confidence, and compassion you deserve.
What’s Inside
This book is packed with everything I wish more people knew—how to track ovulation and actually get the timing right, when to seek expert help, and how to make sense of complex treatment options. I also dive into the nitty-gritty, less talked-about issues like poor response to meds, low egg quality, fertilization failures, recurrent implantation issues, and all the grey zones in between.
And because not all paths to parenthood look the same, I’ve written this with everyone in mind. Whether you’re a solo parent by choice, part of the LGBTQ+ community, considering egg/sperm donation or surrogacy—this book has you covered. It’s inclusive, evidence-based, myth-busting, and most importantly—human.
I also made mental health a major focus. Because as both a fertility doctor and a patient who’s been through IVF herself, I know firsthand that this journey is just as much an emotional one as it is physical. You deserve support and compassion along the way.
My Hope for You
If you’ve ever found value in my posts or blog, think of The Lucky Egg as the ultimate deep-dive. It’s everything I’ve learned from my years in clinic, laid out clearly, with empathy, and in a way that empowers you to take control of your reproductive future. I want you to feel confident, informed, and less alone—no matter where you are in your journey.
Thank you for being the community that inspired this book. Your curiosity, resilience, and honesty shaped every page. I can’t wait to hear what you think.
💫 Preorder now and get ready to crack the fertility code with The Lucky Egg. Let’s do this—together.
